Introduce children to the language, stories, and culture of the Gubbi Gubbi people with Gubbi Gubbi Bush Tucker Girl. This engaging children’s book follows a young girl and her mother as they discover Australian native bush tucker, blending traditional knowledge with modern storytelling.
Written by Christine Stuart and Susan Clark, the book features Gubbi Gubbi language words alongside picture associations, making it easy for children to learn while enjoying the story. For the second book in the series, the illustrations are by Bianca Clark and artist Gabrielle Cloutier, who joined their talents to create a modern-day illustration of the Gubbi Gubbi people that honours tradition while inspiring young readers today.
The Gubbi Gubbi people are the Traditional Custodians of the land in South East Queensland, with their traditional lands stretching from the northern banks of the Pine River in the south to the Burrum River near Maryborough in the north, and west to the Conondale Ranges. Their country encompasses areas including Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Gympie, Redcliffe, Bribie Island, Caboolture, Petrie and Maryborough.
