Hand carved timber musical instrument by Indigenous artist Murruppi.
Artifact is used for rhythm during traditional dance, singing, chanting or didgeridoo playing. Sound is made by hitting the two hard pieces together.
These clapsticks are made from mulga wood, however they can also be made from other hardwoods such as gidgi, ironbark, bloodwood, black wattle or other eucalyptus wood. These clapsticks vary in length between 25cm and 30cm in length.
