The SONNIE is a freestanding tubular bells installation consisting of 11 tuned metal tubes of different lengths suspended in a curved rectangular frame. The longer the tube the lower the sound it produces. Includes 2 mallets permanently attached to the frame.
The instrument itself is characterised by high frequencies and a subtle range of aliquot tones (higher harmonics). To enjoy the mesmerising tone of tubular bells, you must strike them in the middle with mallets to produce a sound. Even the simplest, intuitively struck rhythm will produce an interesting tune. Two people at most can play the Otto tubular bells. It is a good idea to add other instruments such as the Monk Bells or the Wind Piano to create music with others. The frame measures 118cmW x 177cmH. Note: The mallets are attached to the instrument with armed (steel) rope.
